Frequently Asked Questions
Our marine inspection experts answer all your questions: the local expert, the inspection and the report
It is a technical inspection of a vessel performed by a local marine expert at the boat's location, so you don't have to travel. We coordinate with the expert and arrange access with the seller, then share the full report—including photos and video—with you before you decide to buy.
Engine, hull and electronics: overall condition of the structure, signs of moisture or osmosis, rigging and sails on sailboats, electrical systems and navigation equipment. The exact scope is confirmed before the visit according to the type of boat.
Yes, it is one of the core parts of the survey: engine hours, maintenance records and, whenever possible, a sea trial.
It depends on the surveyor, the location, and the type and size of the vessel. Using the details from the form, we'll send you the cost and confirm it before arranging the visit, by email or WhatsApp.
We work internationally, with a network of local experts. Tell us where the boat is located (city, country or marina) and we'll confirm availability.
It depends on the surveyor's availability and access to the boat: it is usually arranged within a few days. If it is urgent, say so in the form and we will prioritise it.
It helps, but it is not required. With the link to the listing or the seller's or broker's details, we arrange access to the boat on the day of the inspection.
We report it to you with the surveyor's details and advise you on the options: renegotiate the price, ask for it to be fixed before delivery, or rule out the boat.
The survey is for a specific boat you already have in mind. If you want help finding one, VFBoats' purchase agency (Dock) sets up a tailored search.
Message us on WhatsApp or fill in the contact form: we will reply with the details of your case.
